hmm…. Job promotion again…. I still remember I was promoted on 1^st of April 2010…. N now they promoted me again.... tat letter stated this job promotion effective on 1^st of April 2011….

It’s more than 40% increment compare with 3 yrs ago….. when i was jst join this company...

hmm…. It’s becoz I’m good???? Or they underpaid me for the last 3 yrs??? Shall I happy for this???

btw, I’m still stuggle’ing wat to buy…. To prize myself….. last time I have bought myself a OMEGA watch… this time wat can I do???

its surprising to me that i was promoted…

obviously not promoted to senior QS lah… its just grade updated, the title still the same… but ofcoz, a little bit salary adjustment n better benefits right now…. sini senior QS just like our asist. manager in M'sia.....

hmmm... i've received a promotion letter dated 30th May 2010 on 2nd of May 2010.... but the promotion is effected on 1st of April 2010.... so.. i guess they r going to bank in the "shortage" to my account soon...

Few dayz ago… one of my colleague (Ang Mo) has received the letter of termination b4 he go for his vacation (it’s early notice)…

Today, my fren (from M’sia) has received the termination message/letter from our Commercial Manager too….

No Surprise, just a little bit shock… we knew this will come, but didn’t expect that so early…. We tot can tahan until Feb 2010 wan....

Actually, my fren sudah expected he could get goreng aredi… coz he has serious argument wif our Commercial Manager b4 tat… he is planning to tender resignation after March 2010… mana tahu, its come so suddenly... now leave me and 2 juniors in our department... holly shit.... stresss....

hmmm… after received the termination notice, my fren feel happy n upset at the same time..

happy is becoz no ned to compensate the 23k rental, at the same time can get 1 month salary in lieu of compensation, no ned to face the Manager anymore, n the most important 1 is can go fleeing from this country....

upset is becoz kena goreng.. it’s nothing to be proud of…

today… hAM is going to teach u how to pick a Diamond Engagement Ring~~!!!

Yes.. basically ppl say 4C’s about the diamond… wat the hell is this 4C’s??
actually 4C’s is referring to Carat, Colour, Cut & Clarity...

After I hav done several researches & discussions wif my frens (recently i teman a new fren of mine pergi these diamond & jewelryshops to choose her wedding ring toO).. I found out tat there are another 2C’s (Certification & Cost) ned to be consider when u wish to buy a diamond... these 2 C's are also damn important toO..

Ok~ tuan-tuan n puan-puan… leng zai n leng lui.... let’s learn about these 6 C's: Carat Weight, Colour, Cut, Clarity, Certification, & Cost....

Carat Weight: it determines how large and heavy the diamond is... usually, the larger the stone, the more costly it is –this is so simply becoz larger diamonds are found relatively infrequently in nature therefore it is more valuable... the price of diamonds jumps at certain carat weights, e.g. 0.5, 0.89, 1 & etc.. So one trick is to buy just below the "mark", e.g. buy a 0.95 ct instead of a 1 ct diamond... It will look the same but u can save some serious money...

***pls note tat 2 small diamonds will never be worth as much as one big diamond equal in their weight, e.g. a 1 ct diamond costs more than 2 diamonds of 0.5 ct.... so b'careful when a jeweler talks about "total carat weight"...

Below is the chart showing the "Average Standard Size" for the different categories of the Carat Weight diamonds.

Cut : it is the most important criteria.. Cut is the only one of the 4C's that is influenced by the human hand... the rest (color, clarity, carat) are created naturally as diamonds form in the earth…. the proper cut enhances a diamond's capacity to reflect light and makes it sparkle more…. Diamonds that are cut too deep or too shallow lose or leak light through the side or bottom, resulting in less brilliance ultimately & value… (somtimes the biggest diamond is not necessarily the best... a smaller diamond with a better cut will look better and may actually appear larger than a poorly cut diamond of bigger carat weight)... Diamond cutting is the art of changing a diamond from a rough stone into a faceted gem.. it requires great skill and training… generally, a well-cut diamond will internally reflect light from one mirror like face to another and disperse and reflect it through the top of the stone... the GIA Diamond Cut Grading System categories the cutting in 5 grades (excellent, very good, good, fair & poor) to describe the overall cut quality of a standard round brilliant diamond... Btw how to estimate a cut grade? See ur diamond’s certificate lah…

Color: Diamonds come in different colors from perfectly clear to varying shades of yellow (and other colors).... a lettering system from D to Z is used to identify the amount of color present in each diamond, with D awarded only to rare, totally colorless diamonds (Based on GIA Standard).

Colorless: D, E, F
Near colorless: G, H, I, J
Faint yellow or brown: K, L, M
Very light yellow or brown: N, O, P, Q, R
Light yellow: S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z

I grap this from website… som ppl say tat only experts can tell apart a D, E, F and most people cannot distinguish between D, E, F, G, H (even I) once the diamond is set in a ring. So the best value on a budget may be selecting H or slightly better. Note: Some say to choose "G/H" or better when the diamond is set in platinum or white metal ring settings. Tiffany (the famous dept. store) starts at "I" or better.

Clarity: This refers to internal imperfections (inclusions) inside a diamond. All diamonds, except for the rare "IF" grade, have flaws (small crystals, cracks, specks, etc.). The clarity scale (GIA) is divided into six primary categories:

Flawless (F or FL) - no discernable surface blemishes or inclusions visible when viewed at 10x magnification.
Nearly Flawless (IF) - insignificant surface blemishes and no internal defects visible at 10x magnification,
Very, Very Slightly included (VVS-1 & VVS-2)- extremely difficult to very difficult to find surface blemishes or minute inclusions at 10x magnification, but can be more readily seen at 10x once located at 20x magnification.
Very Slightly included (VS-1 & VS-2) - difficult to somewhat easy to find surface blemishes or minor inclusions at 10x magnification.
Slightly Included (SI-1 & SI-2) - easy to very easy to find surface blemishes or readily noticeable inclusions at 10x magnification.
Imperfect (I-1, I-2, I-3)- surface blemishes or obvious inclusions are somewhat difficult, easy, or very easy to find with the naked eye, especially after being located with 10x magnification.

Certification: If the diamond doesn't hav a certificate, then u r only relying on the seller's word... u r unable to confirm the color, clarity, cut & etc... "GIA" is the most recommended becoz they are very strict and will not grade diamonds than are not totally natural... GIA (Gemological Institute of America) created the International Diamond Grading System in the 1950's & established the standards that revolutionized the diamond industry. hmmm… u can choose other lab to carry out the ‘investigation’ 1.. but they are more “careless” compare wif GIA.. well… a standard GIA report will show a diamond's color, carat weight, clarity, depth, table, cutlet size & etc. n the most important 1 is it is reliable & trustworthy… aiyoyo.. comparing wif a student came out from Howard University and another from UNITAR… u trust which 1? ofcoz lah Howard University… it is branded~~~!!! =p

Cost: This is totally depends on ur budget…. normally the jewelry industry likes to say the budget is ur " 2 months salaries"~~~!!! but frankly speaking.. that doesn't make any sense de lah…. It is depends on budget n ur financial….

ok.. after we go thru all these 6C's... there r som tips for u b4 u select a ideal diamond...

try to look for a seller who has been in the buz for a number of years and well knows by the public 1 (so tat wont kena con)...

try not to buy a diamond already in a setting.. u cannot see the color and they almost never has a certificate also...

plan n do more researches before u buy or look for som expect teman u pergi 'hunts' the 'batu' (stone) lah... hey.. this is diamond.. a luxury thing, u think beli sayur-sayuran @ pasar?? must b'careful de mah... take time to comparison shop and learn....

make sure that u compare "apples to apples" (same color, clarity, carats & etc.) when u choosing the diamonds...

negotiate, after several comparison plus walking shop by shop.. i bet u sure hav better understanding wat's the reasonable price for the 'stone' (batu) right?

free ring~~!!! ask them to provide u the free ring~~ hey.. diamond is a farking luxury stuff.. go 'wut' them to giv u a free ring to set ur diamond... =p

hmm.. it depends on u wan the 6 prong ring setting or 4 prong ring setting... Prongs serve to hold the diamond inside the ring.. A diamond has a greater chance of falling out and being lost if a prong breaks in a 4 vs. 6 prong setting... but 4 prong settings also give a round diamond a bit of a square look... so... depends on wat u want lah....

We are not keeping pace with the number of changes, remeasure, etc on the job. This is mainly due to the huge number of changes and not because we are too slow. The bottom line is we need to catch up quickly otherwise ALEC is at risk of losing a lot of money. For the month of November we are going to have to forget our off Saturdays and work 6 day weeks. We can see how we are going by the end of November then see what we do for December.

well… the reason y I wan to resign is….. my tenancy contract will expire in the end of July 2010… so.. I ned to think whether I wan to renew it or not.. If I wan to renew it.. then I hav to work for at least another 8 months for my current company to cover the rental, coz I hav to pay 1 yr rental when I renew the tenancy contract.. n tat cost me around RM40k +- ….

my mate is planning to resign nex yr.. not sure bout the actual date yet.. but most probably is in March to July tat period de lah… if he is going to resign on March then higher possibility for me to resign on June… but if he is going to resign on June toO.. then abit jialat for me lah… suddenly 2 intermediate executive level QS cabut from this Site.. who is going to do the works? (so far we hav 5 QS in this Site, 1 slightly abit senior, 2 intermediate level + 2 juniors).. hmmm.. it sound s like we r ‘zou kao’ our manager aredi… leaving a bad reputation (our M’sian reputation) to others aredi… cabut/resign together at the same time….

I stil remember.... 1 yr ago…… I had called my mum to donate some money for the Earthquake in China when I read the news from the internet (I’m working in oversea)…

I think... as a ‘chinese’… we should show some care needs to our race… mana tahu my mum really listened to my advice… n she go tolong organize a charity dinner in our village sommore…. OMG~~ my mum…. Really……. I hav nothing to say… =p

it was published on sin-chew newspaper…. The total donation was RM10,720… within one night… hmmm… it can be considered as a very nice result for a kampong aredi…. good job~~ proud of u~~!!!

But this time… our ‘neighbour’ country experienced an Eartquake… I hav to call my mum~~

I’m thinking to resign becoz my leave application hav been rejected (pls check “I'm an Idiot)..

I’m damn stress + damn emotional at that time… cannot think wisely.. i'm an idiot...
the thing occupy my mind is ~~ I wan to attend my good fren’s wedding dinner (Sept 2009).. I promised to attend; I MUST keep my promise~~~!!! (if I resign in Aug, I stil able to attend their wedding)

hey ppl…we live only once... marriage also only once in our life(perhaps =p)… I wan to be there… in my good fren’s BIG DAY…

oh ya.. I should tell u guys wat’s the reason he (my manager) reject my application..
becoz we get awarded a Hotel project n we r going to move back to Abu Thabi soon.. so far only 3 QS r available for tat project.. so we might facing shortage of staff to carry on such big punya project.. 1 of the QS aredi applied leave on Sept… we clash in tat period….

Ok… I accept ur explanation… (nyama, I’m so important? Then y no increment + bonus???)

finally, I found the solution (after i clam down)…
I request my colleague to change his schedule…
I offer him tat I’ll bear all the extra cost for tat… lucky, he agreed to change his schedule for me… tq tq…

finally.. I pay him around 1k (extra admin fees & bla bla bla) to change his flight ticket…

p/s: i don't easily make a promise... but once i made it.. i'll keep my promise..

finaly.. I completed my task.. within a targeted date..

let me tell u wat hav been done by me for thse few dayz…

I hav to plan the schedule & divide time equally between tasks can be an asset by tat 7 ppls…
I hav to distribute the works (solve out the drawings n distribute to them), guide them, manage, monitor + coordinate wif them..
I hv to standardize the format we r going to use… arrange a short meeting to check their progress + solve their problem.. I hav to make sure all the things r under control & completed within deadline... for the meantime, I hav to check + carry out the changes for 6 buildings… (at the same time, I hav to motivate them toO, make sure everybody r happy + feel conformable wif their works… =.=’’’)
Monitor the progress & report to Superior(my chief estimator)...
In the final phase, I hav to compound all the works n make sure everything r in order…

so stressssssssssssSSSS~~~!!
I hav to take all the responsibilities for any fault caused by them…
I noe u might not understand y i ned to do tat… u might ask, y dun u ~ just push back (their fault) to ur subordinates? let them bear the responsibility lah….

I noe many ppls r trying to avoid to take the responsibility for their subordinates’ fault… but in my mind, a leaders should take tat responsibility… otherwise, why we need a leader? A good leader should be able to guide his/her teammates to be able to perform well… if they did something wrong.. it is part of ur responsibility….

when u live wif the attitude tat u r responsible for everything, ur whole life will change… when u take up responsibility for everything tat happens around u, u’ll start expanding...

I strongly believe tat.. the more responsibility u take up, the more u will expand and grow…

we used to say “money can’t buy happiness” - "money can buy material things, but real happiness must be truly earned”….

other than tat, it could be found in varying forms~~
“money can't buy everything, money can't buy frens, money can't buy love & etc”…..

well~~ “money can’t buy happiness” argument is tat many major international studies undertaken since duno how many centuries ago.. virtually everyone agree tat "money can’t buy happiness," but sometimes, it can~~~!!! but only if u noe the right way to spend it~~!!

there r few tips (from Mr. si-hAM) for using money to be happier~~

spend the money on others~~
one of the best ways to make urself happy is to make someone else happy~~
think bout ways u could spend the money tat would make a big difference to someone else~~~ whether is ur family, frens or bla bla bla~~~

examples:

pay a plane ticket for ur gf to Pulau Ledang;
call for a bird-Day party or dinner for ur family members;
buy som small gift or souvenir to ur frens or belanja them yamcha & etc….
donate som money to charities, it will make u feel happy toO…

I hv no idea wat is tat pub’s name aredi becoz I went to tat area few times only.. n I terus masuk tat pub as the ladies requested… (usually my gang dun like to drink 1.. so, I seldom clubbing toO… weird..)

DUBAI: An average of 1,500 work permits and visas are being canceled in Dubai each day as companies lay off employees in the wake of the global financial crisis.

The number is expected to rise in coming months as thousands of labor complaints currently logged at the Ministry of Labor get processed. Adding to that figure will be the thousands of employees who have been made redundant but are searching for other jobs. Many companies have given redundant employees a grace period of two to three months to look for alternative work. Jobs are, however, rare to find with most companies freezing recruitment.

An official from the Ministry of Labor told Arab News that they started seeing a rise in the cancellation of visas in late October. "On some days, we cancel more than 2,000 permits," he said.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the ministry is dealing with an unprecedented number of complaints from workers. "The ministry is swamped with complaints from workers who have not been paid, or forced to take unpaid leave or who were fired but not paid their dues. Only after settling their cases can their work permits be canceled," he said.

At the Ministry of Labor's Visa Cancellation Section, human resource representatives of companies complain of long queues. "It takes hours to get the cancellation paperwork processed," Naser Ahmad, an employee for a construction group.

Ahmad, who was carrying 10 passports, said his company started layoffs in September. "Up to now, we have cut down 25 percent of the work force," he added.

Another employee said his company has already fired 500 of its 5,000-strong work force. "At the moment, the bosses are waiting to see if the situation improves in a few months. If things do not change there will be more redundancies," he added.

Abandoned cars is a SIGN of the times~~~???!!!

Do-Bye, Dec 31 : More than 80 vehicles found abandoned at the Do-Bye International Airport recently, according to police officials.

The vehicles might have been left by people fleeing the country, apparently because they couldn’t repay loans after losing their jobs, police said.

The Director of the General Department of Airport Security
, Mohammed bin Thani, said 60 cars were seized recently. Another 22 were seized by do-bye Police when they were found abandoned in a prohibited area at the airport, according to another official from the traffic department.

The official told the Khaleej Times that police noted the increase in the number of abandoned cars at the airport after the recent lay-offs by companies due to the economic downturn.

''Police found that owners of some of the cars had dumped them in the airport parking lots after they failed to pay the loan instalments, and travelled to their countries,'' he said.

He said more than 455 vehicles had been seized by the General Department of Criminal Investigation over the last year.

''The seizure of cars came as part of the traffic police crackdown on offending drivers who parked their cars in prohibited areas at Do-Bye International Airport,'' he said. The airport has parking facility for 6000 vehicles.

Hey..Im wondering..
I'm 25 years old and the days r running~~~!!
Im afraid that all of my life will pass so fast~~!!!
I mean I wake up 6:00 am, go to work ,come back at 6:00 pm, bath + dinner + rest a while.. and then the day is over... (sleep @ 10.30pm)
the time pass so fast and I dun 1 that my whole life will pass so fast like that~~~

I hav make a list...
I wish to accomplish these things in yr 2009.
I get the feeling that I can’t get these all done before the 2010, however.... I’ll try my best ~~!!

Things to do in yr 2009

1. Stop caring what other people think of me

2. Learn to be more patient

3. Be more organized

5. Get a serious relationship

6. Fall in love (Fall deeply, helplessly and unconditionally, I really mean tat)
